Officially Unemployed

After five years of hard work in uni, as of yesterday... I have officially joined the group of people classified as unemployed. Haha, yes... I have finally completed my education after all the hardships, sweats and tears.

Yesterday I graduated in sky blue and gold colours, as is the tradition of my school. It was a most heart warming event, as I was overjoyed receiving congratulatory remarks from course mates that graduated with me, and my friends that come to support and acknowledge my achievements over the past few years.

I also have to thank my parents for taking the time off to come visit me and join in my celebration of completing my university course.

All in all, I have a lot more celebration to do, but once all that is done... I have to really start thinking about what I want to do with my future. That... is... a... scary... thought...

The Final Lap

I'm finally done with all my major engineering assignments. Now, with just two more exams to go, my undergraduate life will finally come to a completion.

The two assignments I had to work on was really tough, in the end I churned out a 50 page and a 150 page assignment single-handedly. Whether it was rubbish or not I dont know, but what I do know is that even if it was rubbish, it wasn't easy to produce. I must have looked and smelled like a zombie after the whole ordeal, but I guess at least now I'm proud to say I've done it.

As I said, two more exams to go and I'll be done :) Finally!!! I've been at this for five years now, and wow, as long as I pass these two exams and the two assignments I handed in... I'll officially graduate from uni :)

My assignments and prepping for the exams are basically what's kept me away from blogging, but rest assured I'll start blogging again when all this is over.

Twenty-Seven Hours Straight

I’ve been so very busy with my studies lately, and that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t been blogging as much as I should. Being in the last year of uni naturally means that my work load is unbelievably huge, over the last weekend I only accumulated five hours of sleep from Friday morning to Monday morning. That’s more a less a hundred minutes sleep a day… All these loss sleep was because of a major assignment I had to hand in on Monday. Actually the five hours sleep was sort of a three hour sleep Friday night, and a two hour nap on Saturday night… I went for twenty-seven hours in a row without sleeping on Sunday night… LoL crazy yea? Yup, twenty-seven hours straight doesn’t mean I was straight for that period of time, it just meant I was awake for that long… but still gay of course :p

But it’s amazing how the human mind works, knowing that I had to hand in the report by 11am Monday morning, my brain just somehow sent a signal to my body telling it not to sleep. Had some coffee every now and then to keep me awake, but no more than my usual daily caffeine intake. I’m quite the coffee fanatic, I guess Evann knows this, as he visited me in Melby once and I brought him to one of my favourite coffee shops.

out of sync biological clock

Strangely I didn’t feel the need to sleep at all, and was quite energised and hyped up about completing the assignment. I don’t think even clubbing and sex could have kept me awake all night until 12pm the next day. But I did it, so I’m quite proud of myself for sticking all the way to the end and getting the job done. I guess it was some sort of survival instincts that caused me to just stay awake and hang in there till the end. The fucking assignment is worth about 35 percent of my final grade. God knows did I sleep after that long sleepless drought…

In the end my group churned out a hundred-and-sixty page report, and had to bind it at the paper shop before handing it in, this was to prevent random sheets of paper from falling out during the marking process. It’s one of the biggest report I’ve written in my life, the second biggest one being only ninety over pages.

Now I can probably take about a week off hardcore uni work as I collect data for my final year research work. This research is another subject independent of the huge group assignment I just handed in. I know the saying goes that there is no rest for the wicked, but hey I’m no witch and I sure do need a break, so I’m taking this week easy before going back into hardcore mode.

'Profiles' Eulogy

Previously I talked about becoming more engaged and focussed on my studies. So to actually prove to myself that I am indeed committed to that mind set, I’ve decided to remove all my current online profiles. That means I’m removing them from Gaydar, Fridae and Axcest. Although Axcest is a little but tricky, cant seem to delete the profile so I’ve just removed all personal information about me and made it a blank profile.

I originally have hoped that from these profile I would have been able to find my other half… since I never had an actual girlfriend in secondary school, I always had this fantasy that I would find a boyfriend in uni, and we could have lunch together in uni, study at the library together and attend uni events together. But alas, I think my fantasy would have to remain just that – a fantasy.

No uni sweetheart for me (in my mind a uni sweetheart is like a high school sweetheart), and since this is my final year in uni, that means that there is no chance of me ever finding my uni sweetheart. But that’s okay I guess, because at this point in life, I have to get my priorities right… especially since its my final year, my studies should most certainly come first, not love nor lust.

Some people claim that having a boy/girlfriend while studying can be very motivating and will help increase your grades in school; others say that being in a relationship while studying is like having a second job, and will surely pull your grades down. I suppose now I would never know the answer to that question.

Over the course of this year, if I do meet someone very chemically compatible with me, I wouldn’t say no to a relationship, but by removing my online profiles… the chances of me meeting more people is slim. And to be honest that’s okay for now, because as I said, I need to get my priorities right.

And right now, the right thing to do is to focus on enriching my mind with my studies, and not my penis… LoL. So bye bye profiles and GO GO STUDIES!

A Clean Room

Its been a busy few weeks lately… What with all my assignments due over the final few weeks of this semester. And now its study break, called ‘swot-wac’ here in aussie-land, whereby we get a week of holiday between the final day of teaching and the first day of exams. So yea, exams start next week, and once again I’ll be pretty caught up these few weeks with my revision stuff… or rather I should be pretty caught up…

Revision period is when I realise I procrastinate the most… for example, yesterday I rearranged my wardrobe and also cleaned out my room, something I haven’t done in ages. Yes, I’ve noticed that its become somewhat of a trend… my room is always cleaner during revision period: because that is the period in which I always find other ‘more important’ things to do so that I don’t have to do my boring old revision.

On the other note, I decided to do a sort of ‘voice-over’ of my previous blog entry… reading out what I write. I guess my English has very much deteriorated since I left high school… whereby we were made to write much more creative essays, not just boring engineering and experimental report which is pretty much all I write of late (for school).

Well, I decided to read out my blog mainly because I felt that I wasn’t using my punctuations properly. Well… my blog is more of a verbal conversation (in writing) rather than a passage written for plain reading purposes. So yea, I decided to read it out so that u can visualise, or rather ‘audio-ise’ how I’m trying to make my entries sound :) Hopefully that worked out great, LoL.

Oops I Did It Again

It’s the last four weeks of uni, and as I have mentioned before, its when all my assignments and reports are due. Last week I had two reports due on the same day, and it was very stressful. So I did it again… I accidently left my USB stick at the computer lab… AGAIN.

How did that happen? Well you see, my reports were due Thursday, and so from Sunday night till Thursday, I barely could squeeze in more than five hours of sleep a day. By Thursday morning I was operating on Zombie-mode, I actually finished and printed out my reports by five am Thursday morning, then managed to crammed in 3 hours of power sleeping… After that I headed in to uni for my nine am class and also to hand in my assignment. All the while in the lecture, I couldn’t wait to be merdeka (free) of my reports and assignments. After my nine am lecture I had one more class after that, and then I would be free to go home and sleep like the lazy bum that I am.

But… yes, there always is a but. But, while sitting in the lecture, I suddenly realised a mistake in my report, and had to go to the nearest computer lab to correct it. So like a zombie, I went to the closest computer lab I could find, which incidentally happened to be a post graduate lab. Us undergrads aren’t allowed to use those… but screw it, my assignment is of much more importance than some silly undergrad-postgrad rule. So I went in… remember I’m still operating in Zombie-mode, I plugged in my USB stick made the changes to my file, and printed out the error page. I’m not too sure about other uni’s, but at mine, we put money into our student id cards, then slot the cards into printers to have the prepaid funds deducted out when we need to print anything in uni.

Guess what? Low and behold, I did it again! But this time I out did the last time I left stuff in the computer labs. I not only left my USB stick in the computer I was using, but also my student id… T.T

And I didn’t even realise I left them there till that night, when I was shopping for groceries and realised that my student id wasn’t where it was suppose to be (in my wallet’s card compartment). So I was very depressed, coz students lose ids all the time, and they cost a whooping twenty dollars to replace. And up untill then, I didn’t even realise that my USB was not with me. I only realised that it was missing Friday morning, when I was going into uni to search for my id that I left behind.

Anyhow, if there are any Devine beings up above that governs the regulation of lost-and-found, they were really shining brightly on me. Because Friday morning, a whole 24hours later when I returned to the computer lab, my stuff were still there, sitting at the corner of the printer. Side by side, my card and USB stick were there waiting for me to come back and collect them. All I can say is thank you whomever that was kind enough to not take my stuff and left them there for me. Oh well, I should really learn from my mistakes and be less clumsy about leaving stuff behind in uni.

4 Hours a Day

I think I just found out that men are not meant to sleep for only 4 hours a day, 4 days in a row. For the past 4 nights, I have been sleeping for less than 4 hours a day, and I can tell you my body is not liking it at all. This week was a killer week for me, had 3 assignments due Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively, and had a mid-semester exam on Friday.

But my nightmare of sleepless nights actually started Sunday night, you see, it was Merdeka eve celebrations on Sunday night... And I went a little over board with my drinking :P I'm not too proud of that... but I guess whats happened can't be helped.

So this left me with a nasty hangover for half of Monday, and most of my monday was essentially a non-productive day. By the time I fully recovered from the hangover, it was already well into the evening... So that was when I started working on my 3 assignments and also my studying for the mid-semester test.

And I'll have you know that the 3 assingments were massive assignments, each worth more than 15% of the subjects... So I really had to work my ass off in order to do well in them. Well I guess due to my busy-ness, I have been unable to update my blog. But worry not, I'm back :) But firstly, I need to catch up on some of the lost sleep of mine, then there will be more wacky thoughts and blog updates after that.

Eloe Meh Naime is Alixe

Obviously he said 'Hello my name is Alex', but it was with such a very very authentic British accent, and I totally melted on the spot... You see, Alex is a new exchange student in one of my classes, and apart from his British accent, he has a mighty cute face. I believe I do have a thing for British accents... its just so eloquent, so special, so exotic... (Haha I bet my Malaysian accent is exotic to a Brit). Before I go on, Alex is from England, cause Great Britain a.k.a. The UK, is actually composed of England, Scotland and Wales. Out of the 3... I only have the hots for the English accent. Scottish and Welsh accents does nothing for me... and if their accent is too strong, all I'll do is cock my head and kindly ask them to repeat what they just said... LoL

Anyway back to lil Alex, he ain't that tall you see... which is fine with me. He is just on exchange for this half of the year and is taking some subjects similar to me. I'm unsure which way he swings, but he does have an ear ring on his left ear, and he dresses well for a Pom (what auzzies call the Brits), so I'm hopeful... Duh, I'm just kidding, I won't fall for someone whose sexual orientation I'm unsure of. Cause that will only pave the way for suffering later on if he turns out to be straight.

We did chat a little about the subjects we're doing together, and I also found out that he lives in a student hostel just near where I live :) With that said, I'm happy just to be his friend, and listen to that gorgeous accent of his. For now.
