Capital Escapade

Just got back a few days ago from my trip to the Aussie Capital, and for all of you out there, its actually not Sydney or Melbourne… its Cranberry… I mean Canberra. Weird right? I always thought it was Sydney as well.

Anyway, went down to meet up with some friends and stayed with them. They are a typical rice queen/sticky rice couple. One is an Asian guy my age, and the other is this older Caucasian guy that is much older… I don’t know his actual age as I think its rude to ask, but I’m guessing around fifty? So yea it’s a daddy-boy relationship.

I spent a few days in the capitol, and then we drove down to Sydney for the weekend. We spent some time in the gay clubs, namely the Stonewall, Colombian and the Shift. Haha, twas fun.

The not fun part is travelling with my friends, the dynamics of their relationship seems very weird, coz unlike the usual rich daddy situation, this seems to be juxtaposed and is a rich boy situation… And the old guy is certainly someone that is very hard to travel with, as he easily loses his temper and throws a tantrum every now and then. He doesn’t lose his temper on me as I suppose I’m a guest, but he does so to just about everyone and everything else, inclusive of his boyfriend. His random temper bursts were very hard to travel with, I doubt I’ll ever go on another trip with them.

Most people I know grow old gracefully and become loving people, this dude certainly didn’t grow old gracefully… in fact I think in his mind he probably thinks he is still very young…

You know how the saying goes, “Men are like wine, the older they get, the better”, well fuck that, whoever coined that phrase either isn’t much of a wine drinker, or is someone that only drinks the highest qualities of wines. Because not all wine gets better when kept longer, only the best of the best are meant to be cellared for more than 10 years, all the other regular wines will probably turn in to a sour-bitter tasting vinegar solution when kept pass its use-by date.

I’m not bashing older people in this post, as I often enjoy the intellectual company of older men, maybe cause most of them were either a good Bordeaux, Burgundy or at the very least a good Aussie Barossa. This older guy I travelled with, OMG… tough person to travel with as I guess he didn’t age properly.

Anyway… he was okay-ish to me, didn’t throw his tempers and tantrums at me (although he did to everything else). Maybe coz he was hoping I’d get into bed with him and his boyfriend, AHAHAHA he wished, not in a million years. Anyway, the sightseeing and stuff were amazing as I saw some pretty stuff in both the capital and Sydney, but the company was tough…

Reconnecting With My Mates

I haven't been posting anything up lately because I had assignemnts last week, and then this weekend was the easter long holiday break. It was a week long of reconnecting with my high school mates... It was certainly fun :)

I spent a year of highschool here in Aussie-land, and during that year here I made a few close friends. But due to the fact that everyone went to different corners of Australia for our studies... we sorta got split up. Now somehow, when they have graduated... They've all ended back up here in Melbourne again to work, so yea... we've been reconnecting over the past few weeks... particularly over this easter break.

Last Friday was Good Friday, and so most of the shops in the city were closed. Four of us old high school mates met up and were going to drive in the direction one of the island along the coast line and find a lunch spot... but guess what, we ended up actually driving to the island itself. Its called Phillip Island... and if you ever visit Melbourne as a tourist, its actually the island that visitors go to see the lil penguins. Mind you, because it was a holiday spot... It was infested with holiday goers... and we were sorta caught up in the traffic going into the island. The beaches there was great, and the surfers and sun bathers there were hot... ahaha... All in all it was a good Good Friday.

Today on the other hand, we drove up the mountain ranges for pies and tea. The pies were very good... but the queue was absolutely horrendous, once again due to all the holiday goers migrating up the ranges for the Easter Monday public holiday. We had to wait quite a while to get a table at the pie shop, and also had to put our names down at the tea house and returned after two hours for the scones. The pies were very traditional and yummy, and the scones with the tea were averagely okay... But the jam and clotted cream that came with the scones were magnificiently exquisite. It was VERY VERY good jam :)

After that we went to one of the mountain's national parks and took a hike down the trail there. It was kinda funny, coz I was in a tank top and my friend was in a casual tee with skinny jeans... So just the both of us were walking together down the hiking trail (the others bailed out of the trip at the last minute). To comment the least... we were quite gay, LoL. But my friend was straight, with a girlfriend that was out of town... Anyway, we sorta got quite a few stares by folks when we were talking, walking and laughing together at the trail. Very funny... I'm sure some of the other trail hikers there thought we were a gay couple. We were not, and if any of you are wondering, no he isn't my type at all.

Well it was a good break to go out of the city, and it was all made possible because my friend had his own car. I wish I had my own car, coz then I'd be out of the city and visiting these places of nature more often. However public transport to these places aren't very reliable, and that's why I don't go out of the city that much, even during the holidays.

Happy Easter everyone!

A Blue Moon Post

I’m now back in Malaysia for my so called holidays, but in essence I would be working for most of the holidays. I have previously applied to work at an engineering related company for an internship position, so that is what I have been doing for the past two weeks back in Malaysia. I’m quite happy I decided to do this because I get to meet a lot of new people and learn new things on the job. Of course the down side is that I don’t actually get any free time on my holidays.

I have to work 5 days a week all the way up until Chinese New Year next year. So my work schedule or rather my life schedule is now pretty routine. I wake up at 6:30 everyday so that I can shower eat and drive to work. It is quite a drive away and that’s the reason why I have to wake up early and also leave early. I have to leave before 7:20 otherwise the traffic build up can be quite bad, and I could be stuck in the traffic.

After a lot of hassle I have finally gotten a gym membership at the True Fitness for a three month period. At first they were very reluctant to give me a three month membership, and told me that the minimum contract period was four months. They offered to suspend my final month to a later period when I come back to Malaysia the next time, so that I can use it then. I was however reluctant to do that because it goes against my financial learnings to pay for something o wouldn’t be using in the near future.

So at first since True didn’t allow me a three month membership, went to Fitness First to enquire about their prices. I think the two gyms must be in cohort or something, because they wanted me to sign up for four months as well. However the difference with First is that they have a passport system, whereby I can take my final month with me back to Melbourne and use it. First is also slightly cheaper than True but the nearest First branch is a pretty small branch compared to True.

I went back to True telling them if they gave me a three month contract I’d gladly sign up, but still they refused… and there even was some mi- understanding, cause at first they offered the three month contract, but when I was about to pay, they switched back to four months. So obviously I was a bit annoyed and left without signing up for anything. However surprise surprise, the evening of that night the guy called and agreed to give me a three month contract.

Yay! So now I drop by the gym 2-3 times a week after work for some fitness workout. I am a fairly chubby person… I like to think I’m born that way (lol, blame the genes). Anyway, hopefully these gym sessions will help keep me on the healthy on the inside and better looking on the outside. I ain't greedy, I just hope to look like one of the guys down there :P

I'll be trying to update my blog more often, now that I have gotten in to a work rhythm.

Back From A Getaway

So after a few days in Sydney, I’m finally back in Melbourne in my own sweet apartment. Sydney is a great place for a holiday, but probably not so suitable for staying long term. The city is very messy, and the traffic there (both human and vehicles) is really chaotic. Nonetheless I really enjoyed my stay in Sydney, and I’m thankful to all my friends that were hospitable to me when I was in Sydney.

I was only there for a few days, so I didn’t really get to see much of Sydney, but I did visit all the ‘Tourist-Must-See’ spots. Places including the Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, the Rocks Area, Bondi Beach, the Fish Market and the Blue Mountains. Here are some pictures taken of the places I visited.

Well, now that I'm back... I'm hoping to get more posts up soon :) Oh and I forgot to mention, I did manage to take a stroll down Oxford St., which is the Gay street of Sydney. It was a Sunday night and some of the clubs and bars were open... But I didn't really step into any of them. Nonetheless, at least now I can claim to have been to Oxford St. in Sydney.
