Too nice! You Lose!

Literally Bromantic!

Okay this is really starting to bug me... Why does the bad guy always win?

Spoiler alert for This Means War... If you still wanna watch the movie... Then don't read on... I kid you not.

Anyway, I went out and watched the movie last week with a friend... A girl... That is if any of you were wondering. Anyway, we watched This Means War! When I first saw the trailer ages ago, I found both the actors very attractive... And couldn't wait to watch it.

In terms of realism... The show completely lacks any realistic elements. But in terms of comedy... Hold on to your seats folks, coz you're gonna be laughing your heads off. Oh... And just a side note, the bromance within the movie is very cute too :) wish I had that with my best friend...

Anyway, not to spoil too much Of the movie... The guy that cheats, lies, and plays dirty eventually wins the heart of the legally blonde actress... She is awesome by the way!

What I dont get is how is it possible that the nice guy always finishes last... I seriously find that very very disturbing :( I like to think that I'm more of the nice guy... and most certainly hate to think (or to know) that I always finish last.

What is it about having a bad streak that is attractive?

Cute, Lean and has a Brittish accent... What's not to like? Oh and he is nice too

After watching that movie, I felt sooo sorry for the nice guy that lost out... (if I could I would have given him a nice big cuddle *devious smile*) but yea... I felt sorry for him.

I understand we all need a little bit of adventure and danger in our lives... all in the name of keeping life interesting... But isn't picking the bad guy the wrong choice? I'm sure there comes a time in life where you just want to settle down and cut back on the adventure... will mister-I'll-steal-your-heart-by-being-a-bad-guy be the right guy for you?

All I'm saying is that I think the nice guy should be given a chance to finish first... don't you think?

First Class Havoc

Havoc in First Class

So I recently watched X-men: First Class. Though the show wasn't really a first class show, it was decently made, and I'd definitely recommend everyone to check it out.

Personally I felt that there was an undeniable attempt to portray an underlying love between Magneto and ProfX, beyond that of bromance. And it was kinda funny to watch it... because to a gay dude, those two are surely in love with each other...

On a side note, I love the whole "mutants need acceptance" theme... It sort of mirrors us gays in trying to gain the acceptance of society. Although ours is not a genome defect like mutants, disclaimer in case I get letters by some GLBT activists, we are still pretty much the same in that we are different from the general community and we're struggling to gain acceptance and acknowledgement.

Cut ain't he? I'm soo getting that hoodie vest now!

Ohh... and goodness gracious me is Lucas Till cute in this movie! Lucas (not me, but the actor) plays Alex Summers, a.k.a Havoc. He would be the younger brother of Cyclops in the mainstream X-men, and somehow appears in this movie before Cyclops. As someone who likes X-men, I find it weird that they should introduce Havoc before Cyclops in First Class... but I'm certainly not complaining about the eye candy... He is cute! Oh and for those of you who thinks he is familiar, he plays the dude in the "You Belong With Me" video for Taylor Swift :)

Lucas in the MTV

Anyway guys, go watch the movie!

Matching Of The Stars

Hey everyone, hope I don't get letters for this blog posts, but I was wondering in the straight world, stars hook up all the time when they act in the same movies...

Here is Zac Effron with Vannessa Hudgens, obviously met on the set of high school musical, and if I'm not mistaken are still romantically attached.

And here's Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, they met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Causing Brad to split with Jen, and now they are both still happily married.

We also have Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, from the set of Gossip Girl. They met on the set, and still seem to be very lovey dovey with each other.

So, anyway, if straight celebrities met on set all the time, wouldn't it be awesome if gay people also met while working on a set together?

Here are some of the ones which I think will make the media go ape shit if they find it to be true!

Number 3 on the list we have Taylor Lautner and Robbert Pattinson, both are on the set of the Twillight saga, and have a few more movies to go. Never know, RPatz may break up with KStew and hook up with lil ol TayTay. LoL. Something to appease both team Jacob and team Edward :P

Number 2 on the list, from the hit series Glee... I'm hoping that Finn will hook with Sam, both in real life and in the show... haha!

Number 1 on the list... and somehow I've been wishing for this for a VERY long time... Harry and Draco together. Either in the stories... which is not possible now, or off set... Whoa... how awesome right? Danniel Radcliff and Tom Felton!

To all the hollywood companies out there, by no means is this a post to imply that the actors are gay or anything, its just wishful thinking on my behalf, so please dont send me any letters.

Jacob Biscuit Bites

I’ve made a trip up to the capital city again to clear up some things with the Malaysian High Commissioner. As usual there’s nothing much to do here, so I’m just wondering around the city, which the locals call civic instead of city, wasting time while waiting for my flight back to Melbourne at 6pm.

All I got from wandering around the city is that Jacob rules! And by Jacob I most certainly mean Jacob Black from the twilight series.

Did I mention I’m a total team Jacob kinda guy? I mean c’mon seriously, what’s not to like about Jacob? He’s hot, cute, hot, hunky, hot, turns into a fluffy wolf, hot, apparently has a constant warm body temperature (according to Bella), and oh yea… did I mention HAWT !!!

Notice Jacob's poster is 13 and Edward's is 12 and 14

Check it out, no more 13 but heaps of 12s... LoL

Here’s proof that folks here in the capital are pretty decent people when it comes to choosing their favourite twilight character, there was this little basket of posters on sale, and all the Jacob posters were totally sold out, but the Edward ones were still there. Ahahaha, nobody wants him. He is totally creepy if you ask me.

C’mon you team Edward peeps, admit that you’re all a closeted Jacob fan but just don’t wanna admit it. Wahaha.

Strangely I’ve always like Jacob even before the movies, I really liked his character even in the books. I wish my boyfriend could change into a fluffy wolf… that way I could take him for a walk in the park, and it wouldn’t even be remotely kinky or weird :P

Movie: A Single Man

I recently hooked up with a friend to watch a gay movie at a small cinema here in Melby, the movie was A Single Man. Its overall a pretty artsy pansy movie and starred the actor that played the gay dad in Mamma Mia.

Anyway, the movie revolved around a gay man dealing with the death of his gay partner, with him contemplating ending his life, and with life tempting him with all the pleasures available to him if he were to remain alive.

There is some eye candy here, but certainly no frontal nude scenes. I'd recommend watching it if you were either gay or very into artsy pansy movies. Otherwise its probably safe to give this a skip. But then again... I'm not very into artsy pansy movies... I actually didn't like Benjamin Button, so maybe I'm a lil biased against these type of my-so-called artsy pansy movies.

The theme and character was very well developed, but I personally felt the plot held not much significance. With that said, I like how the film is able to portray a gay man like any other heteroman dealing with the grieving and loss of a beloved partner. We need more shows that tell the world gays and lesbians are just like any other person, that we are just normal human beings that happen to be attracted to our own gender.

Movie: Mulligans

I finally watched the film Mulligans. It’s a gay film made last year… and while I was watching a film called The New Twenty at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Mulligans was showing at the very same time. So I didn’t manage to watch it last year at the film festival, but finally this weekend, I got my hands on a copy of the movie and watched it. To describe the film in a single word… ‘Different’.

First of all let’s see, Mulligan actually means given a second chance at doing something. If any of you ever played Magic The Gathering, Mulligan is the term used by Magic players as a second chance to redraw a new hand if they didn’t have a mana card in their first draw. The term was actually spawned from golf by a golfer named David Mulligan. In golf, the term is used when the players are given a second chance to hit the ball on the very first tee off… and only the first tee off… it can’t be used at just anytime.

So why is the film different? It’s because so many gay coming out stories are about young guys finding out about their sexuality and how they deal with it. But Mulligans take the whole coming out tale from a different perspective… it’s a story whereby not the son comes out… but the dad. The acting was pretty okay… and the plot could have been better, but hey like I said, I like the fresh idea of the dad coming out… instead of always the son.

No nude frontal shots… some from the back… shots of some pretty hawt buns. But yea the story is provocative in its own sense. Because many people from our parents generation never had the chance to come out when they were young. And some of them even ended up getting married and having kids. So what happens when they see all these new generation of young gay people living the life they will never have? What happens when a married man realises that he cannot live a lie anymore and have to be true to his gay self? Well Mulligans explores that possibility… although in my opinion not nearly enough…

I’ll be more than happy to watch a sequel if they are gonna make one. Watch it for yourself… definitely a must watch movie if you are gay :)

V For Valentines

Went to watch Valentine's Day with my self dubbed Ah Kor today. It is a really bitter sweet movie... Highly recommended for everyone, and an added bonus if you are gay... Coz there is a lil something special for us in there, mua ha ha.

And OMG Taylor Lautner is soooo cute, he was in the movie... Hate to spoil it for u guys... But he didn't take his shirt off. Sigh, if it wasn't a pretty good movie... I would have marched straight to the counter and requested a full refund. On a lighter note, there was this other young dude... Very lithe body, and he took his clothes off... :p

Taylor and Taylor

Apart from those young actors, there were a whole bunch of other hawt actors... And some were, I repeat were, half naked :p

Eric Dane, one of the hawties in the film

Gosh before I sound like a bimbo, and appear to only look at the guys in the movie, let me say that the plot was pretty good. At times it may be semi-predictable... but in a good way. Its one of those movies that tears your heart apart and grinds it into pieces, then puts all of them into a slow cooker to make it all warm and mushy so that the pieces stick together again.

So with that said... All of you out there that are partnered up… get off your lazy bums and go watch the movie.

Happy belated Valentine's Day!

Avatar, My First Movie of 2010

Its no wonder they won two Golden Globe awards!!! I just watched Avatar... I know, I know... soo late right? but yea, its the first movie I've watched since coming back to Malaysia... And its fucking awesome! There's soo much in the film... music, plot, hot blue dudes (butt naked), themes... whoa, its really great.

I particularly liked the theme, I'm stating the obvious here... but the Yankees invading the middle east for oil... If you invade people with lower technology and just pulverize them... they are going to fight back... and if they dont have mother nature to help them out in the war... they will resort to anything just to get back at the people that disrupted their home land... and that most certainly includes suicide bombings. Exactly the same thing as in Avatar... the sky people think they can come... teach English... liberate the Na'vis... and then take their resources??? get a life... nobody is gonna just sit back and take it up the ass... (except of coz Malaysians in the case of the g*v screwing everyone up, and maybe gays, lol )

Luv Jake when he was BNB (butt naked blue), he looked okayish in human form, but in his Na'vi form, WHOA! hawt! somehow I saw him as a very cute and slim twink... hahaha... totally awesome. Minus the tail and the weird nose... I think I can picture me doing him :P hey... they're humans too... with feelings, so it wouldn't be bestiality, so don't even suggest that. Lets just say multiculturally, I'm very accepting :)

I also luved how he got his first lil birdie...When he went up to the high cliffs and looked for a bird (Ikrans) to wrestle Hahaha, its abit like in a gay bar ain't it? you walk around... then dance a lil with the person that stares back... and like the lady-Na'vi said... its the first 'ride' that counts... makes a difference if he is ever going to call back... hahaha! I sound like an expert, but I swear I'm not like that, I got all of that from watching Queer As Folk :)

Only thing was that there was this couple sitting next to me talking and commenting on the movie none stop since the beginning. They were making stupid comments like,
"he is gonna fall in luv with her, sure one"
"whoa, its so high, if he falls he will die"
"whoa those are dogs, those are horses, those are flying birds"
I was like wth... I tried to clear my throat while they were talking... it didn't help. I turned to my friend and commented very loudly, "WHY DO PEOPLE COME TO CINEMAS AND MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT EVERY LIL DETAIL?". Even that didn't help. And... I even did the universally understood sound for shut the fuck up... I went "SHOOOOOSH!". But guess what, that didn't penetrate their thick bloody skulls... Finally I had to stand up and say, "Excuse me, but I'm trying to watch the show". Phew... luckily they got the message after that, otherwise my movie would have been a disaster.

All in all, Avatar was a great movie for me.

Movie: Eighteen

Eighteen (2005)

I recently watched another gay themed film that was really quite good, its called Eighteen, directed by Richard Bell. In terms of plot, it’s a really good film, I mean most gay films depend on a hot sex scene, or really hot actors to make the show remotely good. This show on the other hand… had a good plot and a terrific theme.

The show tells the story about an adolescent boy that has ran away from home. On his eighteenth birthday, he received a birthday present from his dead grandfather, which was a recorded voice tape. The tape retold the story of his grandfather’s war experience in France, with another injured war medic. There were some underlying gay lust here, for those of you wondering :) And through out the movie, the boy ,named Pip, listened to bit and pieces of the tape, which sort of paralleled his life as a runaway.

As a runaway, Pip befriends a gay hustler named Clark, and also Father Chris, a kind young priest that tries to understand and help Pip. Along the way, Pip also picks up a girlfriend, Jenny, and they both fell madly in love with each other. By the way, the guy who played Father Chris is the same guy that played the Nightcrawler in X-men.

Well, the main thing I got from the show was that life is about appreciating the things we have at hand, and not to lament about the things we’ve lost or the things that we could have had… (like one of my previous posts). And also, the show tells us that sometimes we have to be realistic in life, even though the reality is always rougher and more difficult to deal with. For example Pip realised that ultimately his hustler friend, Clark, hustled out of a need for survival. And Pip’s grandfather, through his war story learned that in war, sometimes you have to kill another in order to survive… it’s a dog eat dog world? Sad but true…

There is one really really scary scene in the movie though, whereby a father forces his gay son (which just came out to him) to blow him, just to prove that he really is gay. I was horror-struck at that scene, and was really freaked out by it. All I can say is that, these are the types of nightmares gay people have when we think about coming out to our parents. Though I’m pretty sure that at this moment in time, my parents won’t be ready for me to come out to them yet, I’m positively sure they won’t act in the same way as that demonic hellspawn of a father in that movie. Thank God, phew.

The film contained elements of Anger, Confusion, Hate, Forgiveness, Love, and Fear… And its when all these conflicting elements are brought together in one film, that the viewers are touched where it matters most, our hearts.

Well as I said, I felt that overall it was a pretty good film, despite the low rating on IMDB. Secretly I think IMDB rates it low cause most of the readers are American, and they are jealous of this Canadian production :P

Movie: The Houseboy

I recently saw a gay themed movie called The Houseboy (2007). The story revolves around a boy toy and a couple, they have been together (the 3 of them) for a year. The plot takes place over the Christmas period, whereby the couple goes off to visit their families for the holiday season and Ricky, the boy toy, is left to house-sit for them. Just before leaving, Ricky overhears a conversation about the couple possibly wanting a ‘new toy’. Left alone to his thoughts and nobody to share it with over the holidays season (which should be happy, warm and fuzzy), Ricky decides he would commit suicide on Christmas eve and leave his dead body in the couple’s house. The timeline of the movie is roughly a week, the week leading up to Christmas eve. During this time, Ricky tries to connect with random hook ups in order to find a sense of belonging, so that they might help change his mind about pulling the plug.

I enjoyed the movie as a whole… the fact that Ricky was really cute also helped in my enjoyment…hehe... also I felt that it was rather thought provoking. The main character Ricky was left with nothing left in his life to live for. He came out to his mom and she abandoned him all together, his sister on the other hand still accepts him as a brother, but rejects his homosexual lifestyle. And here he is, a sorta toy boy, the third person in a relationship... In essence he really has a false sense of ‘love security’ because its really more of a 2+1 relationship, and not a 3 person relationship. Ricky feels the reality of this when the couple leave to visit their parents over Christmas and cannot bring him along because ‘it would be difficult to explain a 3 way relationship’, so here he is left to house-sit their house. He further feels that he is but a 3rd party in the relationship when he overhears a conversation that implies he will be replaced… by a new toy.

At the very beginning of the movie, the viewers already get the feeling that Ricky is only connected to one of the guy in the couple, and not really with the other. Ricky himself knows deep in his heart that the guy would choose his other half over Ricky, if and when he has to make that decision. So Ricky finds him self in this sad, dark, and lonely place with no self belonging at all… hence the mission to pull the plug.

As I said, the movie was thought provoking, especially for a gay man… a lonely gay man. I certainly don’t want to be in Ricky’s shoes over a holiday season… when everyone is together celebrating with their loved ones, he is abandoned by his supposedly ‘loved ones’ and left by himself to contemplate his loneliness. Realistically this can happen to anyone of us (* as Gareth Gates sings… It can happen to anyone of us), but hopefully we will be stronger than Ricky and not end up like him.

What did Ricky do on the lead up to Christmas eve? What happened on Christmas eve? Was it a happy or a sad ending? I guess you’ll have to watch the movie yourself and find out. A word of warning (or encouragement)… the movie contains frontal nudity and sex scenes.
